Vitruvius turns 10!

By Neil Mason

10 years ago, I planned a leap of faith with a step into the NZ marketplace on my own.  In June 2012 Vitruvius Limited was born in a small office at the bottom of our garden.  The company philosophy back then was that good business could be done by developing close, trusted relationships and partnerships.  To this day I have maintained the vision that if you like who you work with, you will work hard to deliver the best possible results.  The commitment is to the relationship and the individuals just as much as the deliverables or the project.

In July 2012, with a robust business plan tucked under my arm and the support of my wife and family, I took that leap of faith.  Everyone knew it was going to take focus, hard work and commitment but I hugely underestimated one particular element; I didn’t realise the scale of support that I had from my friends and close clients.

A business is nothing without clients and I underestimated how many of those clients had become friends.  These are the industry colleagues who wanted me to succeed almost as much as I did. These close clients have played a formidable part in the success of Vitruvius and for that I am truly grateful.

Over the past 10 years I have learned to use the same principle when recruiting and growing our capability.  It makes sense to me that if you like who you work with, and who you work for, you will like where you work.  When new team members join us, they enlist on the Vitruvius journey,

I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my family, partners, employees, friends, and close clients.  It turns out you are all in the same exclusive club whether you like it or not.  That is a member of the Vitruvius family. Together we have all made a roaring success off the back of a simple philosophy: relationships matter.

Thank you for the last 10 years.  Hurry up and carry on, the journey is still going strong!
