Commitment: Part-time – quarterly board meetings plus strategic engagement
Make a Strategic Impact – Join Vitruvius as a Non-Executive Director
We are seeking a values-driven, forward-thinking Non-Executive Director to join the Board of Vitruvius. This role offers the opportunity to influence long-term strategy, provide independent oversight, and help guide a business with a strong purpose, a clear plan, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Non-Executive Directors bring independent judgment, strategic insight, and fresh perspectives. Unencumbered by day-to-day operations, you will be uniquely positioned to challenge assumptions, raise critical questions, and provide objective oversight, ensuring that internal thinking is tested, governance is strong, and the organisation stays future-focused.
Why This Role Matters
Independent Directors play a critical role in maintaining board balance, broadening perspectives, and aligning governance with best practice and stakeholder expectations. This appointment forms part of our intent to build a balanced and effective Board. Enhancing diversity of thought, strategic depth, and independence.
The value lies in your objectivity, experience, and ability to guard against groupthink, while helping the Board remain focused on long-term value and good governance.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an individual who can contribute meaningfully to Board deliberations and strategy. While familiarity with the civil engineering or infrastructure sector is beneficial, technical expertise is not essential. We are focused on governance capability, strategic orientation, and personal impact.
Selection will be based on experience, reputation, and alignment with Board needs.
Desirable Attributes and Skills
We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:
- A strategic and future-oriented mindset.
- Prior board or governance experience.
- Strong understanding of business risk and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Independence, objectivity, and absence of conflicts of interest.
- Access to professional or strategic networks that broaden our reach and insight.
- Critical thinking and ability to challenge constructively.
- Strong communication, influence, and advocacy skills.
- An ownership mindset and energy to contribute meaningfully.
- Familiarity with infrastructure, civil engineering, or consulting (advantageous).
Appointment Details
This is a paid director role. The initial term will be three years with the opportunity to be extended for a further two years. The remuneration will be confirmed with the successful candidate. The appointment process will include interviews, reference and conflict of interest checks, and confirmation of independence status in accordance with company governance requirements.
