Vitruvius is seeking a talented Project Controls Data Engineer in Tāmaki Makaurau, who thrives on solving complex challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering high-quality, data-enabled outcomes.
As our Project Controls Data Engineer, you will contribute to delivering project controls solutions for both internal and external clients. You’ll support the development, management, and optimisation of data pipelines to ensure accurate and quality data is available for project and programme controls, enabling informed decision-making and improved project performance.
You’ll apply best-practice data engineering to project controls methodologies, including scheduling, cost and budget management, and risk management. Your work will involve designing, automating, and maintaining data flows to enhance reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities for a range of projects and clients.
You will work independently and as part of project teams, providing support to advisory clients across all sectors (rail, transport, water, and land). You’ll engage with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to structure and manage project data effectively, ensuring alignment with business objectives, KPIs, and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Bring to Vitruvius
Essential Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in developing and managing data pipelines to support project and programme controls
- Experience with project scheduling, cost control, and risk management systems and methodologies
- Proven ability to automate data processes and integrate project control systems for reporting and insights.
- Experience in data visualisation and business intelligence reporting, using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
Bonus Points For:
- 2 –5 years of experience in a project controls, data engineering, or analytics role within a consulting, construction, engineering, or infrastructure environment.
- Project controls certifications (e.g., AACE CCP, PMI-SP, PRINCE2).
- Data engineering certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Business intelligence certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or SQL-based certifications).
- Understanding of consulting practices, stakeholder engagement, and client service delivery in a professional services environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in project controls, data engineering, and business intelligence.
- Experience working with GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS) and integrating spatial data into project or programme reporting workflows.
