The Opportunity

Our Wellington team is looking for an experienced Rail Project Engineer to work amongst the team to deliver the vast and varied work in our pipeline.

This is a great opportunity to join our team when the pipeline is flush with work delivering for our key clients, with ongoing local involvement in the Wellington Metro Upgrade Programme (WMUP), Future Rail’s ETCS Programme and regional renewals works, as well as upcoming opportunities on the Lower North Island Rail Integrated Mobility (LNIRIM) Programme.

The Role

The role will work in the highly regarded Rail team at Vitruvius alongside sought after experts on a range of projects from feasibility, concept through to detailed design and construction.  Through your previous experience with project design management working in the sector, your role responsibilities would include:

  • Highly competent engineer to lead design packages, complex assignments/projects and providing direction. Highly competent engineer, to lead the delivery of interdisciplinary design packages for complex rail projects and providing direction and advice to clients and designers.
  • Has broad theoretical knowledge of rail engineering and the interdependencies for application
  • Technical development, design, engineering and delivery of project work for clients
  • Manage resourcing and budgeting and provide detailed briefs for your delivery teams.
  • Experience and competency to act as a verifier of other’s design work.
  • Provide technical input and lead rail based design tender submissions
  • Opportunities to act as Engineer’s representative supporting Engineer to Contract
  • Opportunities to build and foster close client relationships.

The Candidate

  • 6+ years of experience working in rail engineering
  • Washington accord degree qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership is advantageous
  • Experience leading and working within a project team
  • Experience of influence and stakeholder management
