Vitruvius is seeking an accomplished Transport Service Leader to establish and grow our Auckland transport offering. This is a rare opportunity to shape a service line from the ground up, build a high-performing local team, and strengthen our presence across the Auckland market.
You will combine strategic leadership with credible technical expertise, serving as a trusted adviser to key clients while overseeing business development, commercial performance, technical quality, and project delivery.
What You Will Do
As our Service Leader, Transport, you will:

Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to grow our transport portfolio.

Develop and lead the strategy for Vitruvius’ Auckland transport service offering.
- Lead bids, proposals, pricing, and key commercial decisions.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a collaborative, high-performing Auckland team.
- Act as Vitruvius’ primary transport technical authority in Auckland.
- Provide leadership and oversight across complex projects, ensuring strong safety, quality, programme, budget, and client outcomes.
- Drive technical excellence, operational efficiency, revenue growth, and sustainable commercial performance.
- Champion health, safety, wellbeing, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring to Vitruvius
Essential:
- At least 15 years’ experience as a technical professional within the transport sector.
- Proven experience in business development, strategic planning, and growing a service offering.
- Strong experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- An established New Zealand industry profile and professional network in Auckland.
- Significant consulting experience, supported by strong commercial and project delivery capability.
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, business management, or finance.
- New Zealand Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and commercial decision-making skills.
Bonus Points For:
- A postgraduate qualification in engineering, management, or business.
- Experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Contract administration or Engineer to Contract experience in horizontal infrastructure.
- Experience using digital tools, data, emerging technology, or AI to improve project and client outcomes.
- Recognised technical expertise or contribution within the transport industry.
